  • No, you must be 18 years or older to get a tattoo in New South Wales, even with a legal guardian's consent. This is in accordance with the NSW SLED guidelines (Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate). You’re welcome to book an appointment as soon as you turn 18.

  • The NSW Police Force regulates the tattoo industry under the Tattoo Industry Act 2012 and the Tattoo Industry Regulation 2023. The SLED grants Tattooist and Master Licences. At Mikael Rämgård’s Studio, all artists are fully licensed and adhere to the highest hygiene and legal standards.

  • Nestled in the serene Middle Head area of Mosman, the studio is surrounded by breathtaking harbour views, lush greenery, and coastal tranquility. This iconic location is known for its peaceful atmosphere, making it the perfect escape for a private and exclusive tattoo experience.

    For your convenience:

    • Free parking is available. When you book your appointment, we will provide a free parking ticket for your session.

    If you’re arriving via bus, taxi or rideshare, drop-off is simple and quick at the studio entrance. For any further assistance, contact us directly.

  • To book an appointment we recommend you fill out the form on the website under Contact. When we have your information and brief you are after we will get in contact with you and start the booking process with your artist of choice.

    The Tattoo pricing depends on different factors. We suggest firstly to book in a (free) consultation with your artist is the best way to custom tailor your experience and pricing.

    Afterwards we will help tailor your experience and best Tattoo results with bookings like. Design and Fitting Days where you design together with your artists to collaborate on your project. Tattoo days from project based, half days and full day appointments.

  • Tattoo costs vary on different types like location of tattoo, size, details, colours or black, design complexity. Every artist has their own final price but mainly based on what type of day you will have.

    Minimum studio price: $600.

    Deposit for Tattoo Booking: $600.

    Design Day and Fitting Days: All inquiries have to be through the artists themselves for final pricing.

    Half-Day and Full-Day sessions: Full days are ideal for larger projects.

  • We accept credit cards, bank transfers, Paypal and cash payments. Full details will be provided during the booking process.

  • To ensure the best experience:

    • Eat a balanced meal beforehand (a big breakfast if your appointment is early).

    • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.

    • Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs for 24 hours prior.

    • Get a good night’s sleep.

    • Moisturize the skin area a few days or weeks before.

    • Trim body hair in the tattoo area if necessary.

    Shower and maintain good hygiene before arriving.

  • At Mikael Rämgård’s private tattoo studio, your comfort and experience are a top priority.

    For full-day sessions, we provide a complimentary lunch to keep you fueled and comfortable throughout your tattoo journey. Carefully selected, the lunch ensures you stay energized for those longer sittings.

    For all appointments, you’ll have access to a variety of refreshments, including:

    • Barista style coffee and tea

    • Cold water and soft drinks

    • Snacks to keep your energy levels up

  • Due to health and hygiene regulations, only one client per artist is allowed in the studio. Friends or family can join you towards the end of your session once the area is clean. Please note that children under 18 are not permitted due to safety and hygiene concerns.

  • A full-day tattoo session typically lasts between 6-9 hours, depending on factors such as pain tolerance, skin sensitivity, and the area being tattooed. Artists that focus on large-scale, detailed work ensures you get the most out of each session.

    For clients looking to maximize their tattoo experience, booking multiple days in a row is an excellent option. This approach is perfect for:

    • Clients traveling from outside Sydney.

    • Those with limited time who want to complete larger pieces efficiently.

    • Bigger projects or multiple Tattoo Designs done over different days.

    To make this experience seamless and enjoyable, we offer a complimentary hotel stay between sessions for clients booking multiple full-day appointments. This ensures you can rest, recover, and return refreshed for the next day’s session — making it a truly stress-free and elevated experience.

  • We have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel within this time frame, your deposit will be forfeited. Contact us as soon as possible, and we’ll do our best to arrange a new appointment for you.

  • Yes! We provide free consultations to discuss your tattoo ideas and designs. Most consultations are done via Zoom for convenience, but in-studio consultations can also be arranged.

  • Yes, absolutely! We want you to feel fully confident and excited about your tattoo.

    • For many projects, we offer a Design Day, where you’ll collaborate closely with your artist to see your tattoo come to life. This step is all about refining your vision and witnessing the transformation of your ideas into a custom artwork. This specific day is normally days or weeks ahead of your appointment so you have time to think about it more before your actual Tattoo Day.

    • If a Design Day isn’t necessary after your consultation, your completed design will be presented on the Tattoo Day. Rest assured, every detail is carefully considered to make sure the artwork aligns perfectly with your vision. Minor adjustments can be made, but please note that significant changes may reduce your tattooing time on the day.

  • Yes, we can help with cover-up tattoos and creating designs that work with scarred skin to transform the area into something meaningful.

    After an initial consultation, your Artist will guide you through a Design Day to explore the possibilities and ensure the new design flows seamlessly with your skin. This collaborative process allows us to achieve the best outcome for your cover-up or scar tattoo.

  • We uphold world-class hygiene standards including both European and Australian Tattoo practices and over 15 years of experience in the industry.

    Our studio operates with meticulous attention to cleanliness and sterilization, exceeding local health regulations to ensure a safe and comfortable environment. All equipment is sterilized, and we use single-use needles and disposable materials for every client. We exclusively use vegan-friendly and inks, chosen for their safety and ability to produce exceptional, long-lasting results.

  • Our Studio uses SMEK second skin and will be provided for free after each Tattoo session.

    Mikael Rämgård’s Studio uses SMEK second-skin that helps your new tattoo heal a lot quicker. Even after 1 week you can see a big change. This will help your tattoo from getting infections and getting back to normal life quicker.

    Provide aftercare instructions like keeping the tattoo clean, applying aftercare ointment, avoiding sun exposure etc will be guided to you by the artist. If you have a consultation with Mikael he will go through all the stages that work best for a quick healing for you.

    Being mindful and taking it easy the first 5-7 days are crucial with second skin. Your tattoo will have the first layer of healed skin back in 5-7 days. After this you can slowly start exercising and doing smaller activities. Under 7-14 days we still recommend no sun exposure, sauna, heavy exercise, swimming. All this after 14 days when your tattoo is cleared from possible infections. It takes approximately 2 months for the ink to settle in the skin nicely and the right tones to come out.
